Account Setup
The first things worth setting up once you've signed up. Go to the Account page in the left sidebar to find them. See Account Settings for more details.
Your Profile
On the Profile page, tell your team members and clients who you are:
- Profile photo: Click your avatar, select a photo of yourself and crop it
- First name and Last name
- My pronouns: If you want, add your pronouns: She/her, He/him, They/them, Other, or I'd prefer not to answer
- Job title: Select a team and add your job title in that team. You can have a different job title in each team
- Please address me by my: Select whether people should use your first name, last name and/or job title. The cultural norm for this can vary, so this is a shortcut to knowing how to be polite.
- Clients can see: Select whether your clients can see your email and/or phone number
Your Password And Two-Factor Authentication
On the Security & Privacy page, you should turn on two-factor authentication to add an extra layer of security to your account. This is also the page where you can change your password if needed:
- Update password: Enter your current password and a new one, and click Update password. You'll see hints if the new one isn't strong enough or if it has been involved in a security breach and therefore shouldn't be used
- Two-factor authentication: Click Enable 2FA, scan the QR code with an authenticator app, enter the code from the app, and save your recovery codes somewhere safe. After that, you'll need both your password and a code from your app to sign in. This adds an extra layer of security, so we recommend enabling it, even if it'll take you an extra minute to sign in.
Offline Access
On the same page, set up Offline Access on each device you'll want to work on without a connection. Formta only opens offline with a passkey, so nobody else who uses the device can open your work:
- Click Set Up Offline Access
- Create a passkey when your browser asks. It can be a security key, your password manager, or your device's PIN or fingerprint
- When you open Formta without a connection, click Unlock With Passkey to get to your projects
Without it, Formta works online only on that device. Not every browser can unlock offline yet, so check Working Offline to see which ones can.
Notifications
On the Notifications page, turn each kind of notification on or off, select which ones you also get by email and as push notifications, and mute busy projects. It's worth spending five minutes early on, so you only receive what's relevant to you. See Notifications for what each category covers.
Your Work Preferences
In the Q&A section of the Profile page, tell your clients and team how best to work with you. For each answer you can select if it's for all your teams or just one of them, and whether only your team or your clients too can see it. You can also select I'd prefer not to answer for any question. The questions cover:
- An introduction about yourself, and what you love to talk about
- Which days and hours you're available, and your time zone
- How you'd like people to contact you
- Your attitude towards time, and your preferred meeting length
- When you do your best work
- Whether you like to work alone or with others, and how quiet or noisy you like your work environment
- How you'd like to receive feedback
- Which type of greetings you're comfortable with at work
All of this is collected automatically in a short introduction your team and clients can see. Having a basic understanding of other people and their schedules can help you build a better working relationship, so it is worth spending five minutes on.
Your Privacy Settings
Click the gear icon in the notifications sidebar on the right to find these, below your notification settings:
