Using Project Templates

Start a new project with everything already in place for your kind of work. A template sets up the project's pages, its elements and an inventory, and most templates also add a client calendar and pages ready for client review.

Selecting A Template When You Create A Project

Pick a template while you create the project, so you can start working right away.

  1. On the Projects page, click New Project, add the project's details and click Next
  2. Select I want to start with a template and click Next
  3. Under What type of project are you creating?, select one of the ten templates:
    • Art direction
    • Graphic design
    • Design
    • Interior design
    • Architecture
    • Photography
    • 3D art
    • Events, galleries & studio spaces
    • Creative teams & studios
    • Producers & project managers
  4. Click Continue

To build the project yourself from the start, select Give me a blank page at the bottom instead. You need to be online to add a template.

What A Template Sets Up

Each template is made for its kind of work, and sets up:

  • Pages: Named pages with the elements for each stage of the work. The Photography template, for example, adds Overview, Call Sheet, Project Brief, Target Audience, Concept, Models, Locations, Shot List, Equipment List, Production Schedule, Selection, Image Processing, File Delivery and Evaluation
  • Elements: Already on each page and, where it makes sense, connected to each other, like a budget chart showing the numbers from a budget sheet
  • An inventory: With categories that suit the work
  • A client calendar: For sharing key dates with your client
  • Client revision pages: Pages ready for your client to review and comment on

Once it's added, the project is yours to change: delete the pages and elements you don't need, and add more.

Adding A Template To An Existing Project

You can also add a template to a project you've already started. Its pages are added to the project, and nothing already in it is deleted.

  1. Click on the project page and type / to open the element menu
  2. Click Use template at the bottom of the menu
  3. Select a template, or Give me a blank page to add one empty page
  4. Click Add template

Saving Your Project As A Template

When you've set up a project the way you like it, save it as a template, so every new project starts the same way. Click the bookmark icon to the right of the page tabs, give the template a name and a category, select Save with content to keep what's in the elements too, and click Save template.

Manage Templates on the Projects page lists the templates you and your team have saved. You can search them, edit or delete them, and start a project from one.
