Budget Dashboard

See where your project's money comes from and where it goes, in four charts that follow a Budget Sheet or a Table. When the numbers change in the source, the charts update.

Adding A Budget Dashboard​

  1. Click on the project page where you want the Budget Dashboard to be added, and type / to open the element menu
  2. Search for Budget Dashboard
  3. Select it to add it to the page

Adding A Data Source​

The dashboard shows its charts once you've connected the Budget Sheet or Table with your income and expenses.

  1. Click Choose Data Source
  2. Select the Budget Sheet or Table. You can pick one from any project of your team
  3. For a Budget Sheet, click Select whole budget sheet. For a Table, click the column for each value: under Income, the Item name, Actual and Budget, and under Expenses, the Category, Actual and Budget
  4. Click Connect

To connect a different one later, hover + on the dashboard and select Update data source.

The Charts​

The dashboard shows four charts, two for the money coming in and two for the money going out:

  • Income: The actual income next to the budgeted income
  • Income sources: Where the actual income comes from
  • Expenses: The actual expenses next to the budgeted expenses
  • Expense categories: What the actual expenses are spent on, by category

Hover a chart to see its amounts. They're in the Budget Sheet's currency, or in the currency of the Table's Currency column.

Client Approval​

When you send the page to a client in a client revision, they can approve the dashboard.

Using A Budget Dashboard As A Data Source​

A Payment Status Chart or a Table can show the dashboard's charts, and a To Do List, To Do Kanban, Content Calendar or Timeline can add one of them to a task. Hover + on the dashboard and select Copy connection ID to find it quickly in their list. They update when the dashboard changes.

Export Your Dashboard​

Click the download icon in the dashboard's toolbar, or press ⌘ / Ctrl + E when the dashboard is selected. The formats are:

  • PDF
  • PNG
  • JPEG
  • SVG

Tips​

  • Give every expense line in your Budget Sheet a category, like Venue or Catering, so the Expense categories chart shows where the money goes
  • Connect the same Budget Sheet to a Project Budget Status Chart to see how much of the budget is left
